The Duke Endowment

The Duke Endowment

The Duke Endowment seeks to enrich lives and communities across North Carolina and South Carolina by supporting grantees as they nurture children, promote health, educate minds and uplift spirits.

Focus Areas:

  • Child & Family Well-Being

We fund implementation support for public and private child- and family-serving agencies to adopt and sustain evidence-based and evidence-informed programs shown to prevent or treat child maltreatment.

Pre-application deadlines for Child & Family Well-Being grants are June 15 and December 15. The pre-application portal will open approximately six weeks prior to these deadlines.

  • Health Care

We seek to improve health status and reduce health disparities in the Carolinas by ensuring all people can access timely and appropriate health care, lead a healthy lifestyle, and have their basic social needs met.

Pre-application deadlines for Health Care grants are May 15 and November 15. The pre-application portal will open approximately six weeks prior to these deadlines. Pre-applications cannot be accepted outside of these dates.

  • Higher Education

The Duke Endowment’s Higher Education program area strives to understand and support the selected priorities at each Endowment-supported school and help them learn from each other as they contribute to the higher education sector. We focus on advancing school priorities to continuously improve institutional health and strength, and share lessons learned.

  • Rural Church

We support clergy and congregations — ensuring they have the tools to walk faithfully together — as they strengthen rural areas. We help United Methodist Churches make greater contributions that have lasting, positive impacts in their communities.

Pre-application deadlines for Rural Church grants are May 10 and October 3. The pre-application portal will open approximately six weeks prior to these deadlines.
