About The Grant
Shinnyo-en Foundation provides grants to an array of organizations, ranging from small community-based organizations to national nonprofits, and schools to universities.
Our goals of our grantmaking:
Engage youth and adults in meaningful acts of service.
Guide them in reflecting on their service and its relationship to their social, emotional and personal growth.
Nurture goodwill between youth and adults of diverse faiths, backgrounds and beliefs for the good of their communities.
Cultivate universal values, such as lovingkindness, compassion, harmony and respect for others.
Focus Areas:
Social-Emotional Learning
Social-emotional learning (SEL) encompasses the development of many important life skills, such as self-awareness, self-regulation, and interpersonal skills that are vital for success in many facets of life.
Youth Leadership Development
We believe that achieving a more harmonious and peaceful world necessitates investing in the power of youth and future generations of leaders. Our hope is that by supporting programs that provide the opportunities for the process of self-discovery, collaboration, and reflection, youth will develop into the type of leaders our communities need and can flourish with.
Service
Our grantmaking supports organizations or projects committed towards opening up opportunities for youth to become involved in their communities, learn from their communities, and contribute towards addressing community concerns and problems through service.
Interfaith Collaboration
We believe that dialogue and engagement among varied faith communities can be a vehicle to promote inclusivity and service-driven change for communities.
We see interfaith collaboration as a way to listen to and incorporate diverse opinions and thoughts where people from varied faith backgrounds can create a bond based on their humanness and shared values.
