About The Grant

The Moccasin Lake Foundation is a private not-for-profit organization founded in 1991 as a long-term philanthropic program. The Foundation has been established with broad charitable purposes so that its grant-making policies may always reflect the diverse interests of the Moccasin Lake Foundation and its individual board members.

The Foundation is currently only reviewing requests from organizations in the areas of:

  • Education

The Moccasin Lake Foundation Education Committee strives to provide funding for educational endeavors that add depth to curriculum and broaden scholastic experiences that would not be otherwise funded through the traditional means.

We aim to support innovative and creative educational programs for students and faculty to enhance the educational experience. We aim to provide resources and programs that enrich children’s appreciation and understanding of all subjects covered by the academic curriculum.

Criteria Applicants

Organization longevity: Applicants must be in operation for a minimum of 3 years before grant requests will be considered.

Geography: Applicants must be located in the Washington State counties of King, Pierce, Snohomish, or Okanogan.

Grant size: Only grant requests of $10,000 or greater will be considered. Grants will not be made that exceed 10% of an organization’s annual budget.

Primary Areas of Focus: Educational opportunities for children in Kindergarten-12th grade, and vocational/adult education.

 -Sequestering carbon in the ground

 -Reducing fossil fuel use

-Preserving old growth forests, marshes, mangroves, and peat bogs that support and protect ecosystems and wildlife from habitat destruction

Request amounts must be clearly defined. Requests that are part of a larger project must be specific and detailed regarding how this particular grant's funding would be allocated within the larger project.

-Giving Frequency: We ask that applicants do not request grants if they have received other grants from the Moccasin Lake Foundation within the last year.
