Career Pathways for Young People

Alaska Airlines Foundation grants focus on young people where Alaska Airlines has a significant presence in Alaska, California, Hawaii, Oregon, and Washington, especially those in underserved communities in these states.

Supporting Career Pathways for Young People

We believe an engaging career should be available to everyone. Partnering with nonprofits committed to creating career pathways, we have seen firsthand the results when young people get excited and motivated about their future. Career readiness is multi-level, and we focus on the following:

  • Career exploration and career connected learning experiences, including aviation-related fields

  • Soft skills, critical thinking, empowerment, job training, and leadership development

Application and Reporting Requirements

For 2026, the deadline for funding requests for career readiness programs are March 30th and June 30th, and must support young people in the following areas of California, Oregon, and Washington.

  • California: Alameda County, Contra Costa County, Los Angeles County, Marin County, Napa County, San Diego County, City and County of San Francisco, San Mateo County, Santa Clara County, Solano County, Sonoma County

  • Oregon: Clackamas County, Multnomah County, Washington County

  • Washington: Clark County, King County, Kitsap County, Pierce County, Snohomish County, Spokane County

Funding Amounts and Eligibility Requirements

Corporate giving support typically ranges from $5,000 to $20,000 and can be used towards overall program support for nonprofits supporting young people 11 to 24 years old.

Limited resources necessitate giving in focused communities, and support is generally granted on a one-time basis. Funds should be spent within one year of the donation.

In all cases, the budget should show reasonable per-client costs, and no more than 50% of the request can be designated for general operating costs or staff salaries. The funds should not represent more than 10% of the organization's operating budget or more than 50% of the program budget.
