About The Grant
Earth Island Institute has a 40-year history of providing fiscally sponsored projects with 501(c)3 status, in addition to offering a variety of business tools and consultative support to help them grow and accomplish their environmental-protection goals.
We are looking for projects that help further those goals through education and advocacy — led by activists and social entrepreneurs committed to stepping up, making change, and inspiring others to take action on behalf of the environment.
Before you submit an application, contact Susan Kamprath at skamprath@earthisland.org with a brief overview of your project. Download the application and budget worksheet.
When your application is complete, please submit it by email to newprojects@earthisland.org. Our staff and program committee will conduct a thorough review of your application and make recommendations to our Board of Directors for a final decision. For approved applications, project support staff will work with you to coordinate orientation and start-up.
Application deadlines are March 1, June 1, September 1, and December 1.
Requirements
We welcome applications from existing 501(c)(3) organizations. However, once you become an Earth Island project, you must do all fundraising, income, and expenses through Earth Island’s 501(c)(3), and your existing 501(c)(3) will have to be closed or made dormant.
